The Buckeye Winnies kicked off the 2019 Camping Season at Pier-Lon. It was nice to see new faces and make new friendships. Our happy campers consisted of the following: Charlene and Aaron Zatik, Nancy and Ed Irving, Julie and Len Zevchek, Margo and Matt Pokopac and their dog Jack, Dan Anderson, Laurie and Walt McClellan, and of course our Wagon Masters/Hosts Sandy and Marlin Geesaman and Carol and Al Morrison. Kathy Plant drove out Saturday and then Nancie and Rick Stephenson drove out Sunday morning for the meeting.
Mother Nature could have been a little kinder with the weather but we are a robust group and had a great time with nice hot fires each night. Friday evening, a group of us went to a restaurant suggested by Aaron, the Mezcal in Grafton. Everyone seemed pleased with the Mexican cuisine. Friday Night’s sweet treat were pie iron pies (blueberry, peach and cherry) and root beer floats made and served around the campfire.
Saturday morning the Buckeye Winnie campers woke to the smell of a wonderful breakfast. Al made the pancakes and Sandy provided her homemade blueberry syrup. We also had sausage, fresh fruit, juice, and coffee. That is one big griddle! The heater in the pavilion wasn’t working but the food made up for it.
Saturday afternoon some campers went to the Litchfield Flea Market. The Zatik’s got some good deals! Of course the weather was perfect for an afternoon nap and some campers took a cozy nap in their Winnebago!
Saturday night everyone got cleaned up for a night on the town at PJ Marley’s Restaurant & Pub in downtown Medina.
Sunday morning breakfast was a wonderful repeat of Saturday’s breakfast. The Stephensons arrived via car for the meeting.
As Sunday was Mothers’ Day campers were anxious to return home. Therefore, the traditional Buckeye Winnies Weenie Roast was postponed until the next campout!
