May 4-6, 2018 was our first campout of the season at Travelers Woods, Bernardston, MA with 14 coaches in attendance. The weekend was hosted by Les and Marcia Sindland. For those arriving on Thursday, 10 of us went to dinner at the local Four Leaf Clover Restaurant for the start of a fun weekend. Friday was our usual pizza party once everyone arrived. Saturday morning we had egg and bacon McMuffins with juice and coffee. Saturday afternoon everyone enjoyed an ice cream social along with some games. Charlie Wilson, a guest for the weekend, joined the Winnies, and we were all happy to welcome him. Michelle Tonken joined us for the weekend with her Dad. She had a swim meet early Saturday morning and won two second place medals. We all gave her our congratulations. Saturday evening was a chicken barbeque with baked potatoes, green beans, and rolls, followed by a birthday celebration for Erna Bentley who will turn 98 years young this month. During WWII she was a WAVE working as a decoder. She recently went to Fort Meade and donated her uniform which she proudly wore to the cryptologic museum there. We thank her for her service. Sunday morning we had pancakes and sausage, then everyone went their separate ways after saying their goodbyes.
Les and Marcia would sincerely like to thank the many people who helped with the cooking, serving, and clean-up; especially Roger Collins, Ray Lemieux, Ken Bly, Tom Isaac, Allan Dean, Bridget Warner, Jean Winters, Stephanie Collins Beverly Lemieux and Ginny Sanborn. We would also like to thank Herm and Liz Hageman for their donation of Vermont Maple Syrup for our pancake breakfast. Next up we look forward to the Greater New England Rally in Cape Cod.
