October−Our Friendship Campout (all brands of RVs welcome) was held at Barkcamp State Park in Belmont, OH Oct. 13-15. It was "Trick or Treat" in the park on Saturday so there was lots of fun! The wagonmasters, Nancie and Rick Stephenson, arrived early to "spook" up our campsite. We had our own area in "group camping" all to ourselves. It looked like a Halloween party with decorations of scary critters, body parts, and strings of lights.
Those who enjoyed all the fun were: Carol and Larry Carraher; Nancy and Mike Conley; Sandy and Marlin Geesaman; Carol and Al Morrison; Kathy Plant; Judy and Dick Radosevic and their granddaughters, Sophia and Anna; Margie Wood; Charlene and Aaron Zatik; the wagonmasters and our friendship campers, Kathy and Stuart Shiffman; and Gail Smith and Len Markley and their grandchildren, Caiden and Cammy.
Most campers arrived on Thursday and if you arrived after dark, you needed a "rescuer" to lead you to your campsite! It was really dark and our area was down a dark winding road. Perfect for Halloween!
On Friday morning, we awoke to a perfect day—sun, breeze, and "just the right temperature." Happy hour was followed by a delicious hamburger with all the trimmings and baked beans supper prepared by Rick and Nancie. All evenings of the weekend ended with a great campfire.
Saturday began with a delicious breakfast. Our wagonmasters were up bright and early to prepare it all. The children had a great time of riding bikes around our private camping area. By happy hour time, several ladies had made beautiful beaded bracelets under the leadership of Kathy Pant, Linda Lippert, and Dick With (Honorary Members) who had driven in for the afternoon and had dinner with the group. The children and their grandmothers were dressing for trick or treat in the park. A "Little Witch," a "Minion," an "Elsa," a "Scream" character, and an "American Indian Princess" took off to trick or treat. While they filled their bags with candy, most of the group filled their tummies with a great meal at an Italian restaurant in town.
Those who trick or treated came back with descriptions of Halloween decorations in the park of storybook magnitude. It was a great experience and the candy was overflowing their containers!
On Sunday, we had another great breakfast followed by the annual BW meeting. Our new 2018 officers are: President, Rick Stephenson; Vice President, Jim Brown; Secretary, Nancie Stephenson; and Treasurer, Sandy Geesaman were elected.
We concluded the campout with our traditional Sunday noon hot dog roast! A wonderful weekend was had by all!
Those that hung around the campground for a while got to visit with a couple of beautiful horses. Caiden said, "This is the first time I ever got to pet a horse!" Is this a "Horse Whisperer" in the making?
