A small group of Rhody Winnies had a campout at Desert Dunes of Maine campground in Freeport, Maine. The weather started off cool with a bit of drizzle but then turned perfect. There were a couple of indoor gatherings for happy hour and dinner. The last two nights were ideal to be outside and enjoy a campfire.
The group shopped in Freeport going to a variety of stores the first day. The next day they toured the Desert of Maine which was included with the camping fee. Two members chose to ride the tram. A restaurant on the wharf for lobster at lunchtime followed. A stop at a chocolate factory was after that! Work was being done on the building so a tour was not available. Dinner and happy hour came later, after relaxing and lounging at coaches. On Saturday part of the group went to Portland and tasted wines at a winery. Then they discovered a working waterfront festival in town and toured many different display booths. They also went to a fish processing plant and learned more about sustainable fish.
The group, though small, had a wonderful time.
