February−On Feb. 11, nine Buckeye Winnies boarded the Cuyahoga Valley Train at the Northside Station in Akron for a three-hour ride and brunch. It was a beautiful sunny day with spring in the air. People of all ages were enjoying the ride from young children to older retired folks—all train enthusiasts! The conductors, tickets takers, engineers, and other trains' men and women had stories to tell along the way and most were volunteers.
The brunch consisted of four courses with a choice of bourbon chicken or southern fried pork chop or pasta primavera (as a vegetarian option). The trip was planned and hosted by Nancie and Rick Stephenson. Others who attended were: Margie Wood, Joanne and Jim Brown, Nancy and Ed Irving, and Judy and Dick Radosevic. There was even a game of Wizard. It was a very nice event. Thanks to the Stephensons and perhaps we can do it again when more people can attend.
